High-Performance Foam Concentrate for Flammable Liquid Fires
Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) 3% Concentrate is a synthetic firefighting foam designed for rapid knockdown and extinguishment of Class B fires involving flammable and combustible liquids (e.g., petroleum, oils, solvents, alcohols). When mixed with water and aerated, it forms a unique aqueous film that spreads quickly across the fuel surface, cooling it and forming a vapor-sealing blanket that suppresses flames and prevents re-ignition.
Key Features & Benefits:
- Fast Film-Forming Action: Creates a thin, floating aqueous layer that quickly spreads across the fuel, even over unburned areas, for rapid fire knockdown and securing the hazard.
- Effective on Hydrocarbon & Polar Solvents: 3% AFFF is versatile and effective on a wide range of fuels, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and many alcohol-based polar solvents (when used with appropriate additives).
- Excellent Fuel Tolerance & Burnback Resistance: The formed foam blanket is stable and provides strong resistance to re-ignition if the foam layer is disrupted.
- Low Viscosity & Easy Mixing: Flows easily in cold conditions and mixes readily with water in proportioning systems (around-the-pump, bladder tanks, inline inductors).
- Long Storage Life: When stored in its original, unopened container within recommended temperature ranges, it maintains its effectiveness for many years.
- Biodegradable Formulation: Modern formulations are designed to be more environmentally responsible.
Application Methods:
This concentrate is designed for use in:
- Foam Bladder Tanks: For vehicle and trailer-mounted firefighting units.
- Fixed Foam Suppression Systems: In fuel storage areas, hangars, and refineries.
- Portable Foam Makers & Nozzles: Used with water from hydrants or fire engines.
- Foam Fire Extinguishers: As a charge for wheeled or larger portable extinguishers.
